How to Apply More Shading or Less Shading With a Napkin

I just use the 9B I don't even really any one that you can get a dark enough circle with to pick up the lead. How would you apply more shading or less shading with the napkin is it just a function of pressing harder with your finger as you're rubbing it? Yeah for the most part I mean really it's just varying how much graphite you have on the napkin. If you need more I usually I'll fill it in maybe I'll just do like a little scribble on the actual drawing itself and blend that in. But I make sure I use like a softer lead so it's hard lines but a dull pencil and a napkin will give you amazingly
