Every major type of dinosaur we know in its juvenile or in its infant form had feathers. And not necessarily the flat feathers that we talked about for flight, but feathers that were a downy, insulating one to keep them warm. That's something that their scaly competitors did not have. So dinosaurs just happened to have these two traits, like feathers and a hip socket with a hole in it. All they had to put in their bag to survive the trip.
