The Marconi company was involved in the Strategic Defense Initiative. The initiative meant to develop technology that would render nuclear weapons useless. It seemed like a kind of Manhattan project for UFOs, which Lou has talked about. But this was basically just for weapons and to protect the interests of the United States.
