An intelligent person is typically very strategic. When you're being strategic, it means you have an interest in what's going to happen long term. The best example I can think of this adjective is to think of a chess player. He thinks up to 15 moves ahead and sometimes may be more. So everything that he does in the game is very calculated and very strategic.
