The Blindness and the Nearsightedness of the False Teachers

They are blind to what is promised ultimately and their nearsightedness then is that they can only see what is very present to them namely the world with its sinful desire. And so there's a sense of blindness to the future realities that are only visible in God's word think Hebrews eleven for example. They're those who began on the path they are those who had some knowledge of the eternal kingdom but they've now turned back from that. The same idea that is brought out earlier in verse four regarding the world because of sinful desire so their eyes are just seeing what is directly in front of them rather than looking to thefuture realities promised.
