How Did You Write the Banshees of Inishir?
The Banshees of Inishir was actually a player you wrote at that time as well originally, right? Well, it was sort of unfinished. But again, like those early film scripts, that play was rubbish. And I didn't even finish it, but I liked the title. So I always kind of wanted to go back to the title. When we kind of came to shoot it, I knew it couldn't be on a realistic island because we were going to amalgamate two islands that took totally dissimilar to Inishir. So I had to make it a make-believe island in the same sort of general territory of West Coast. Because we use an island off
