Ruth Ellis' Last Ditch Attempt to Kill Her Son
In the three months between her trial and her execution, Ruth Ellis told her sister Muriel that she wanted to die because she wanted to be with David. She also wrote to David's mother, apologizing for murdering her son. Thousands of people had signed a petition asking for clemency, but it made no difference. If we're pre-ave were to be granted in this case, I think we should have to seriously consider whether capital punishment should be retained as a penalty.
