Dr. Ang Lee is the most famous scientist at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. She became heavily involved in hunting for viruses following the SARS epidemic in 2003. The SARS epidemic was a flash in a pan relative to COVID-19, but it went through 29 countries and killed around 800 people. In April, China apologized to the world for not being more open about SARS.
