The experiment reveals how we can be prompted to behave in ways that we're unaware of. The technique used is called masked priming, and it works like this: 'Do whatever simon says' Then you hear a female voice say the opposite word - which slows down your reaction time by just a tiny amount. Listen again, and you might be able to detect it. Herowerwerer, they ioo. But now listen to this. Wer, were er, they rit? Did you understand what the man said? No, meneve. What was the man saying there? So in that case, we have the word right within a sequence of similar sounds. Which means that
