If conditions are dry but loose and maybe even sandy, again, i'll go with the tire with lots of small knobs. The skinnier the tire, the more likely you are to have a tire break loose suddenly. While you want a mud tire to sink in really sandy conditions, you want the exact opposite: You want the tire to float on top of the sand.
