The Lover function – introverted feeling – is one of the eight core functions of personality in Carl Jung's theory of psychological types. It's about filtering experiences through an internal value system, understanding what feels authentic and meaningful, and maintaining personal integrity regardless of external pressure. Introverted feeling makes decisions based on what satisfies your subjective value system – what feels right based on your values, based on what you judge to be right or good. Jung described it as continually seeking an image which has no existence in reality, but which it has seen in a kind of vision. When developed, this function aligns personal values with something more universal. When undeveloped, it can become purely egocentric or self-righteous.
