Anti Semitism and the Union of the Russian People

Czar nicholas was himself as viciously anti semitic as he was generally racist. The police operated a secret press that produced massed quantities of anti semitic literature and pamphlets. Eventually, these reactionary forces were organized into their own political party called the union of the russian people. By the end of 19 o six, they boasted 300 thousand members in a thousand branches across the empire. And when it came time for the czar to go all in on reaction, he did not want for willing soldiers.
