The church attempts to help her children grow in this virtue and make satisfaction from past sinning by reminding us of the obligation of doing penance. Restoring and strengthening virtuous behavior and rebuilding good moral habits and dispositions is one of the goals of the virtue of penance. You should strive by works of mercy and charity as well by prayer and the various practices of penance to put on the new man.
