The Influence of Hans Jonas on Medical Ethics

When the IRB system got rolling in 66, medical ethics was a very early development. They had no ethicists to talk about the ethics of medical research. So they found Hans Jonas, who was a refugee from Germany. He saw science as potentially making important breakthroughs that might benefit people, but as also a tremendous threat. And so he set pathway for research ethics to be more conservative.
