The Conquest of Islam in North Africa
Ethiopia was well known. It was an established monarchy. We have evidence of that going back to the Old Testament. There was a tradition of Judaism in Ethiopia. Their biblical canon has the first book of Enoch, which is an extra canonical work of the time of the second temple and it's considered scripture.
