The Order of the Green Men

Many pairs of ancient eyes were shut forever as men responded to their fear with axe and flame. When they learned that their new enemies could see through these eyes, surely this led to even more fear and hostility justifying what their ancestors had begun. We're told that the singers ended these migrations, temporarily at least because, you know, poets. But by shattering the land bridge between the two continents with their great magic, at least men couldn't just walk over anymore it worked a little hard. So eventually the first man ceased cutting down werewoods, but the damage was done. The Order of the Green Men was established at the same time, and it supposedly remains to this day.
