The Importance of Private Schools in Cricket
The percentage of England's male cricketers who were privately educated is 58%. And only 7% of the population at large go to those private schools. You are significantly more likely to play cricket for England if you go to one of those private schools, he says. The upside of having almost two thirds of your cricketers come from privately educated is that English cricket is not paying for them. Someone else is covering the cost of developing two thirds of their national team. What a beautiful situation. So they wouldn't want to change it. Just figure out ways to get the same kind of thing elsewhere.
