The History of Berlin
The Marshall Plan pumped in $12 billion worth of economic aid, packages to countries of Western Europe and the Balkans. It doesn't take long for Berlin to become a symbolic battleground for the warring ideologies of East and West. In June 1948, just months after the first Marshall Plan payments are made, the Russian leader Joseph Stalin tries to force the Allies out of the city with a blockade.
