There's been a fair amount of research on birds and mammals that appears to link these shrinking animals to global warming. In a hot climate, it's just much easier to cool down if you're small. So there's no one ans for for all these animals. But scientists do have some guesses that might explain what's going on. Sowoe ere wach the best guess we have to explain the shrinking here.
A recent study of tens of thousands of birds has shown that birds are growing smaller over time. It could be due to climate change, and if so, we ought to consider: How else might humans be altering the literal shape of life on Earth — now and in the future?
