The Cost of the Cost of Living Crisis Is Visceral

There is a kind of declineism that's setting in out there, which is that nobody again has the answers to the long-term problems facing the country. And all they can see is that the things they thought were getting resolved through 2016, through changing the political economy, are just accelerating. Just to go back to the focus group in Stoke, I describe focus groups as therapy sessions now because you turn up, you know, you rent a room in a local kind of hotel and voters scream at you for 20 minutes about how crap the country is. This cost of the cost of living crisis is so visceral. People are scared and they are anxious, they're nervous, they are terrified.
