Typhoon Merbok was one of the most ferocious storms Alaska has seen in 50 years. The storm surge tossed boats like bath toys, and it left behind an environmental disaster. FEMA is offering recovery funds for things like damaged boats, lost fishing and hunting equipment; even spoiled food. At least two dozen native villages saw damage from Typhoon Merbok.
