The Trial of Felippo Melodia

Franco Viola refused to marry Felippo Melodia in order to restore her honour. The trial marked a potential turning point in Sicily's social history. After providing her testimony, Franco stayed away from the courthouse for the remainder of the trial. She could no longer face the endless intrusion of reporters and photographers. Eight out of his 11 accomplices also received prison sentences.
