Edith Pritty's Excavation of a Roman Villa in Suffolk
In 19 38, edith pretty decided to excavate the mounds around suttonho in hopes of possibly identifying how old they were. Archaeology at this time was still a new art and there weren't that many people with formal training in it. They found mainly fragments of glass and metal and a chunk of what was possibly an axe. Anything else that might have been valuable made of gold or silver had long been robbed away. The most important object that they happened to ind in one of these mounds was an iron ship's rivet.
