Introduction

Last time we left Kebesa Devaka in Texas, he was a free man. He and three other survivors from the ill-fated Narvai's expedition had just escaped from the native Indians where they had been held as slaves. The four men would plot their escape together, and they would make their move in September of 1534. What they would do next would become one of the great journeys of exploration in history.
