Using Cryptographic Hashes in a Public API

If someone can deduce what hash function you're using and insert entries, which all collide, all go to the same hash, then they can basically cause a denial of service. So another reason to make sure to use cryptographic hashes is if you have sort of a public service in some way or an API that isn't only trusted users. We'll talk about why in sort of a minute. And but for map reduce, like I said, it's not really a cryptography thing. Like there's not really any concern about that at least back when I was working on MapReduce.
