The Paradox of Involvement
In the withdrawal tendency, we reflect on our own sufferings and the dissatisfaction of Sanghsada. The Bodhisattva recognizes that withdrawal can not happen without an appropriate response to the suffering of the world. So paradoxically, the more we are able to have that sense of serenity, withdrawal, freedom, we are actually able to really take in the suffering ofthe world. And so this trend of involvement is aided by the practice of reflecting on the sufferings of sentient beings.
