The Importance of Timing in a Laptic Canthalotomy

Dr. Himmel: Time is key when it comes to lateral canthalotomy. You want to decompress that orbit as quickly as possible. This procedure should be done within 60 to 120 minutes. The patient still needs to go to the operating room with an oculoplastic surgeon or with an ophthalmologist who's able to manage the procedure and deal with whatever orbital fractures may be associated with this injury.
