The Tension Between Gender Programs and the Government of the Day
There were more agendas at play here than in the average multilateral summit. One of the obvious tensions that there appear to be about influencing social change and getting paid by donors. Those donors are primarily interested in currying influence with the government of the day, a government that may not be super interested in gender issues. Jan Fremden: How much agency or interest do they have in these sorts of programs? And how much influence do these programs actually buy within the Vanuatu government?
