Sci-Fi Fantasy - What's the Best Way to Build a World?

I feel like a lot of people who are new to sci-fi fantasy, um, get overwhelmed easily when they're just like thrust into this unfamiliar territory. I more try to think about how I as an American woman look at the world and how other people might view things differently. What limitations you have in your mind and body that an alien could surpass with their mind or body.
