In 1963, RFK asked the Justice Department's organized crime section to prepare a memo that detailed Sinatra's ties to the Mafia. The head of the organized crime section thought there was enough smoke to move forward with a full investigation of Frank but Bobby Kennedy killed it. John Avlon: All of this sounds pretty corrupt to me. Sinatra helps Kennedy win the election and then he gets a pass that no other guy in that situation would have gotten.Avlon: It comes from a very real love for his family - loyalty is an element that is admirable here.
