How to Identify a Penguin Without Touching Them

Peter Barham is a Professor of Physics at the University of Bristol. He studies penguins to understand where they're going and why they are doing it. The African penguin has a unique pattern of spots on its chest, just like our fingerprints. A computer can use that pattern to work out which penguin an image was taken by so we can track them down in real-time. Anyone who wants to submit their photographs will shortly be able to do so online.
