The Best Teaching Advice I've Ever Give to Undergrads
Don't forget that you were the weird one in undergrad. So don't undermine that. Don't underestimate the draw of every made barbecue. I really like this piece I wrote with two of our grad students here at Tech Audrey Redford and Ray March on Kirschner and Bommel's relationship. What we do is take this idea from Kirschner about alertness being differentiated, but it only becomes interesting if it's asymmetric or specialized in some sense. We're asking about social background within economic activity which to me is a very valuable tool for doing these sorts of historical pieces.
