In my experience the most modern CT scanners don't look as good as some of the older generation. They often have a slightly smudgy look compared to CTs from a decade or even two decades ago. The kind of scanners that I trained on seem to do better job of gray white matter differentiation than some of them much newer, fancier scanners. A lot of it comes down to that quality assurance doesn't it?
