The Fear of Reductionism in Social Science
I think there's a lot of concern and I think rightfully so from social scientists about when they hear, you know, neuroscience studies being done on extremists. When I'm doing this research, or any research, I really see myself basically almost as a social scientist first and foremost. You have to sort of build your way up when looking at these things, starting with the social historical analysis but then you can't ignore the individual level factors either. For every radicalization hotspot, there are more people who don't radicalize living in those same exact conditions than there are people who do.
