As we progress through those three training phases, we essentially reach plateaus in the size of the muscle fibers. The more advanced we are, the more problematic CNS fatigue and excitation contraction coupling can become. We probably want to actually consider trying to raise motor unit recruitment levels in that population. And then eventually what has to happen is you have to be able to recruit Motor units over and over again.
