The good news is that where we have plenty of reason to invade or colonize higher dimensions, aliens living there really have little reason to do the same to us. So they're not a great for me paradox solution, since we would probably talk to a 2D word if we found one and might expect a 40 civilization to talk to us. Ultimately, the really neat thing about higher dimensions is that there's literally entirely new directions to explore and make use of.
