Is There a Parity Between Black and Brown Students in Special Education?

There is an under representation of black and brown individuals within a gifted identification. Around eight % of white students and 13% of asian american students in public schools are on gifted programmes. By contrast, its only about five per cent of hispanic students and four per cent of black students. Tits actually gets down even less than that in some years. Why? A third for asian verses black in hispanic. And yet, there is a parity. You multiply that by millions of people over decades, and you think about how many of our black and brown students,. have not been even given a chance to increase their exposure to challenging topics to show, demonstrate their giftedness.
