The Tension Between Green Policy and the Green Economy Transition

There is an essential tension here between representing people who are currently working in industries and the bigger progressive goal of a transition to a greener economy. That's very difficult for people on the left of labour politics to stomach. I think there's nervousness about it on several fronts, one of those is if this gets presented to the public as they want to present it - which will be or this will push your gas bills up just when they were maybe about to come down. So you've got to make that argument. It's all some hippy nonsense that would be nice in a dream world, but you can't have it now. This policy feels too central to Labour's kind of mission
