The pilots were trying to get as high as the wanted to. They did engage vertical speed mot there, yes. And they were too high for the vertical speed that they they an put that rect that was in that episode. Is it possible to do two types of auto pilot or auto controls, thatare counter to counter to each other, where they don't work and function? I can't answer that with any certainty, just because there'rs so many different types over so many different kinds of planes.
