The Voodoo Queen on Saint John's Eve
According to many accounts, the rituals on Saint John's Eve were presided over by a high priestess. The title Voodoo Queen may have been a position that was specific to the ceremonies. Later descriptions seem to suggest that the local authorities may have turned a blind eye to the festivities. It seems indicative of white New Orleans love-hate relationship with Voodoo.
