The biggest difference between the songs that Ryan Adams writes for himself and the songs on Taylor Swift's 1989 is that Max Martin is a vastly superior songwriter. The most interesting thing about Ryan Adams 1989 is hearing someone who actually has any kind of personality, even if it's a bad one, perform a bunch of Max Martin songs with a couple of Jack Antonov songs thrown in. It really doesn't matter how many stellar musicians a talentless hack surrounds themselves with.
