The Importance of Animal Models of Disease

Most companies are testing drugs in youngish animals yeah and outside of the rare genetic disease context that makes no sense because most diseases occur in age humans. One of the issues with stroke models is you are generally inducing strokes in young youngish healthiest animals who who don't have cardiovascular disease aren't on a bunch of concomitant medications. They may respond very differently to elderly people who are usually taking a whole host of drugs and have a whole bunch of co-morbidities and so this is something i'm really pushing forYeah I think there's been a lot of failure in ischemic stroke translation which actually has been very comprehensively and cleverly and thoughtfully analyzed by Guy Fer
