The Meaning Crisis
Hegel is aware of both the romantic response and the Kantian framework. He argues that for something to be completely unknowable, he argues, is indistinguishable from it being non-existent. If there is nothing that can possibly be known about it, right, then we should stop thinking about it as something that exists. And if you remove the thing in itself, then you get this idea that reality is totally found within this structure. This is a form of idealism, which has nothing to do with pursuing ideal.
