What's New Year's Day?
New Year's Day was known as heartbreak day, because that was the day your sweetheart, your sister, your mother would be torn from you legally. So new year's day, as a day of seeing family and friends, was its own commemoration of black freed. But it's that ability to be with people that was not guarn so there's food culture, there's emancipation.
