Is Open Source a Good Idea for Artificial Intelligence?
It hasn't been scrutinized. It has not held up under any sort of legal challenge. So it's still so new that I think no one wants to believe that just yet. As of November 18th, 2022, a class action lawsuit has been filed in the United States federal court challenging the legality of GitHub co-pilot and other related open AI codecs. The suit against GitHub, Microsoft and open AI claims violation of open source licenses.
