Tyrone O'Neill: A Self-Made Man
Tyrone O'Neill is something of a self-made man. He came from poverty but became an actor and he was able to hit upon a popular role that carried him along through the rest of his career. His conflict with his sons is that they have not made anything of themselves. They are layabouts, victorious for frequenting brothels; like many who come up from poverty is an absolute miser in spite of having money. The regret the father has about that, the belief that he could have done something better.
