John law was a scotshman by birth who converted to catholicism and became controller general finances. He also wrote a series of theoretical memoirs meant to justify these decisions. And another figure whom i discuss there is jean terisson, who was not an economist by training. Sad those are all thinkers that i think would be recognizable in the eighteenth century. I am attentive to his own understanding of the way value can be conjured and circulate through seemingly mysterious means.
