Is there a inherent human impulse to come up with supernatural agencies? I think it's probably because we're such a highly social species that we have the ability. We've got this ability to imagine the otherworldly and to have relationships, social relationships with these imagined beings or forces or whatever. Take for example, elephants. There's been all sorts of work done on elephant society and particularly elephants responses to the remains of dead elephants. They recognise an ongoing relationship with once living members of their community. And if they can imagine... And it's just a worship in some ways,. I mean, what is it about humans? Are we, is our DNA to have these kinds of imaginations as well
