102: Pivoting in Public: Risks and Opportunities

The Bootstrapped Founder

CHAPTER

Pivoting in Public Could Expose Your Customers to Uncertainty

Pivoting in public could expose some of your customers, at least to enough information to cancel their subscription to au service or product of business prematurely. Some people among a customer base or audience want to have an extremely solid service whenever they use. If you talk about it as if it's something that isn't as solid or permanent as it could be, they might consider your business a supar service that is not as good as its imagination. Those people are usually laggards or late adoptors or mainstream customers. To them, sharing your reasoning in public looks like you don't know what you're doing and they will only buy from people who really know what you've done.
