Is There a Finite Capacity to Absorb Protein?
The recommended dietary allowance or the recommended nutrient intake, whatever it's called, is just not sufficient for athletes. The numbers have changed and, you know, my targets have changed based on science. I've had athletes consuming four and five times what I'm recommending and they'll absorb it, but they just can't use it. Beyond that, your body can absorb tons of protein. So about 1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day is a level that appears to cover both endurance athletes even with increased needs for protein because of oxidation.
